IGN has shared a brand new synopsis for Paramount Pictures Sonic The Hedgehog 2 which teases a surprising role for classic character, Knuckles. It seems that the character, first introduced in 1994’s Sonic 3, will take on a villainous role working with Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik.
During his first appearance in the games Knuckles was convinced by Dr. Eggman to fight against Sonic and Tales. With Sonic & Knuckles, released later in 1994, Knuckles learns of Dr. Eggman’s deceit and fights with Sonic and Tails to defeat the villain.
Here’s the newly surface synopsis for the upcoming sequel movie:
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
Once again directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic 2 reunites Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz. The sequel is due in cinemas on April 8, 2022.
