It feels like Marvel fans have been waiting forever for news on the release of animated series What If…? But now it seems the wait is almost over as a new report from EW claims the series will debut on Disney+ in August 2021.
According to the report the series will come hot on the heels of Loki‘s season finale. The Tom Hiddleston vehicle debuts on the streamer on June 9 and will run for six week putting its season finale on or around July 14.
IGN has also verified reports that What If…? will debut in August, although it seems that Disney has yet to decide on an exact day/date for the series premiere.

The series is set to explore key moments and storylines from the MCU with certain “What If…?” twists. Key ones to pick up on this trailer are Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) as Captain Britain and King T’Challa as Star-Lord. There’s also a very interesting scene with Doctor Stranger seemingly facing himself in battle and plenty of foreboding dialogue from The Watcher.
The first season of What If…? is set to run for ten episodes. A second season is reportedly also in production.
Several high profile MCU actors are reprising their roles for the series, including the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, and Josh Brolin have also been confirmed to take part in the series.
Additionally, Karen Gillan, Michael Douglas, Michael B. Jordan, Jeremy Renner, Michael Rooker, Paul Rudd, and Stanley Tucci will lend their voices to the series.
