Marvel Studios has today released an emotional new trailer encouraging fans to get back to the cinema. The trailer features a montage of footage from across the MCU, soundtrack by some wise words from the legendary Stan Lee. After cutting to audience reactions on the opening night of Avengers: Endgame we’re then treated to preview of a number of upcoming MCU movies including our first look at footage from The Eternals!
The trailer also confirms details on a number of new projects including the official titles for sequels to Captain Marvel and Black Panther. The future is certainly bright in the hands of Marvel… Here’s a look at key moments from the previews.
Black Widow
The trailer features a short new preview of Black Widow which is packed with new footage. The film is still on course for a dual-release in theatres and on Disney+ on July 9, 2021.
The Eternals
Finally, after months of anticipation we FINALLY have our first look at footage from The Eternals. There’s not a lot to go on here, a couple of shots of the group in costume as well as Angelina Jolie’s Thena in action. The film hits cinemas globally on November 4, 2021.
Blockbuster Titles
We already know that Marvel had plans for some huge sequels after its last Disney Investor Day and convention announcements. A number of those release dates were reaffirmed today with the release of updated key art. But we also got the news of couple more sequels which now have official titles.
First up the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel. The film, set for release on November 11, 2022 is officially titled The Marvels. We know that Iman Vellani is set to appear as Ms. Marvel following her Disney+ debut, but could Teyonah Parris, fresh from WandaVision, also show up in the sequel?
Next up, the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Black Panther. With Ryan Coogler returning to write and direct, all eyes on who will step up to lead the film following the untimely death of actor Chadwick Boseman. The sequel, officially titled Wakanda Forever, is set for release on July 8, 2022.
With both films lined up for a 2022 release we can expect them to enter production before the end of the year.
Logo Updates
A number of other movies in the MCU slate also show off updated artwork in the trailer. There’s a short spot for Shang-Chi and The Legends of the Ten Rings which hits cinemas on September 3. That’s followed but updated logos for Spider-Man: No Way Home (December 17, 2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (March 25, 2022), Thor: Love & Thunder (May 6, 2022), Ant-Man and The Wasp: Aquantumania (February 17, 2022) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023).
Marvel’s First Family
Last, but by no means least, we got another look at the logo treatment for Fantastic Four. Sadly there was no release date confirmation but with untitled movies dated for 28th July, 2021 and November 3, 2023 it’s not hard to think that one of those dates will be taken by the classic Marvel heroes.
