If the horrifying and insanely popular The Conjuring franchise has left you hungry for more content, look no further. DC Comics has launched a brand new imprint for their older readers who love to be frightened. Are you guys mad? DC Horror will deliver brand new stories that will have fans reading with the lights on… even during the day. You can never be too careful. To kick off this terrifying imprint, DC Horror has created a prelude story that will set up The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

The Conjuring: The Lover is a five-issue series that will lead readers and fans straight into the upcoming film. The limited series has been co-written by The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and bestselling author Rex Ogle. The series features art by Garry Brown (Babyteeth) and main cover art from comics icon Bill Sienkiewicz.

You can check out the cover for the first issue below:

Here is the official synopsis for the limited series:

The Conjuring: The Lover expands the tragic story of Jessica, a college freshman returning to campus after winter break, bringing with her the anxieties of last semester’s poor grades, the awkwardness of facing a boy she wishes she’d never slept with, and an undeniably unnerving feeling of being watched. Jessica soon realizes that something evil has made her its target… and it will not rest until it has her in its unholy grip. But why did this sinister presence set its sights on a seemingly normal college freshman?

Issue #1 Available in Comic Book Stores and Digitally June 4, 2021

In addition to setting up the next film, the series will also feature stories that further explore the horrible artifacts that are locked away in Ed and Lorraine Warren’s room. So on top of being terrified by an entirely new story, we also get origin stories for some of the artifacts that have plagued The Conjuring Universe. Great. Can’t wait.

The debut issue of The Conjuring: The Lover arrives in comic book stores and on participating digital platforms the same day as the U.S. release of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It—Tuesday, June 4, 2021, with issue #2 available on July 2, 2021. Additional titles from the DC HORROR imprint are scheduled to be announced this July for release in October. So make sure you keep an eye out for more haunting stories this summer.

If you haven’t done so already, you can check out the trailer right here.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Lorrain and Ed Warren. Co-starring are Ruairi O’Connor, John Noble and Eugenie Bondurant. The film hits cinemas in the US on June 4, 2021.
