According to Variety, the highly anticipated and incredibly gory Mortal Kombat franchise would extend beyond just one film. In a conversation with Joe Taslim who plays Sub-Zero, the actor revealed that he is signed up to play the iconic character in four additional movies. However, and this is a big however, the continuation of the franchise seems to depend on the success of the first movie.
Here’s what Taslim had to say:
“We don’t know if we’re gonna have a sequel — fingers crossed that we have a sequel”. Taslim then added “If this one’s successful, maybe we do more,”
While it’s hard to predict how this film will perform since it isn’t out yet, we do actually have a decent idea of how hyped people are. The Mortal Kombat trailer became the most viewed red band trailer in history with 116 million views- beating Deadpool 2 and Logan. Fans and audiences in general are incredibly excited about this film and so are we. We won’t really know what’s next until the film drops. But we’re hoping that we’ll be seeing a lot more fatalities in the future.
