Well we didn’t see this one coming… The CW’s Batwoman has recast Kate Kane with former Krypton star Wallis Day taking over the role. After a character, seen wearing Kane’s necklace, appeared in Sunday’s Batwoman episode Deadline confirmed the casting news in an exclusive story.
It transpires that Day auditioned for the role of Ryan Wilder. The role which would eventually go to new series lead Javicia Leslie. After impressing the producers they decided to bring her back when the decision was made to include Kate, formerly played by Ruby Rose, in the back-half of season 2.
The series producers have confirmed Kane will not be taking back the cowl. Her return to the show will only cement Leslie’s place as the one and only Batwoman for The CW. The second half of the season is going to reveal where Kate has been and what that means for her character going forward. Team-Batwoman will also be going head-to-head with Black Mask as the season continues.
Developed by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries), Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman. The series co-stars Dougray Scott, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang, Christina Wolfe and Rachel Skarsten. New episodes air Sunday’s at 8/7c on The CW.
