That’s right! The sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog has officially started production. The director Jeff Fowler, who made his directorial debut with the first Sonic the Hedgehog the movie, announced the news on his Twitter page earlier today. If we’re fast enough, we may be able to get a glimpse of the blue blur on-set in the coming weeks.
Not much is actually known about sequel. However, the post credit scene and the number “2” in the new title revealed that Tails will indeed be joining the family. While rumors have circulated about Knuckles joining the crew, one thing that is absolutely set in stone is that Dr. Robotnik will be back to cause even more mayhem.
We’re incredibly excited to see what Sonic the Hedgehog 2 brings us. In terms of video game adaptations, Sonic was a fantastic step in the right direction even as a kids movie. The vast Sonic franchise is full of weird and wonderful possibilities so we hope the sequels are able to explore some of them. Personally, we’re hoping for an eventual appearance from Shadow.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to reunite Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and is currently on track for an April 8, 2022 global release. There’s no stopping this hedgehog now.
