One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Godzilla vs Kong, excluding the reason behind Godzilla’s tantrum, is Kong’s new height and power. Of course, you have to remember that it has been over 40 years since we last saw Kong. Remembering as well that Kong: Skull Island confirmed that the king was still an infant. Regardless, in those 40 years Kong has been able to triple his height. Based on his height in Skull Island, that’s just an approximation. However, we finally have official confirmation of both Godzilla’s height and Kong’s height.
Godzilla will be 120 meters tall which translates to 393 feet. In comparison, his height in 2014 was 355 feet, and in 2019 he stood at 393 feet. Given Godzilla’s age, it isn’t surprising to learn that he hasn’t grown in the 5 year jump between King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong.
Godzilla: 120 Meters
This is where it gets interesting. In 1973, Kong stood at 104 feet which is roughly 31 meters. If Kong and Godzilla fought back in the 70s, Kong would just about reach Godzilla’s knee. Isn’t that adorable. Since we know that Godzilla vs Kong takes place 5 years after the events of King of the Monsters, it is safe to assume that the year in 2024.
That’s actually 51 years after the events of Kong: Skull Island. In those years, Kong has grown exponentially. He now stands at 102 meters- 334 feet.
Kong: 102 Meters
There is still a bit of a difference between the two titans. But the playing field has been evened. We’re not entirely sure what Kong is capable of yet. But given his brute strength and ability to adapt, Godzilla will most likely underestimate his new opponent to begin with. Soon he’ll realise that Kong is not to be messed with.
The important question now is… Who will win? Godzilla or Kong. Let us know who you want to see take home the trophy in the comments.
Godzilla vs Kong is set be released on HBO Max on March 31st. We’ll be sure to keep you posted once we know when and how UK audiences can enjoy this epic showdown.
