The much talked about and highly anticipated tv adaptation of one of the biggest games of all time Halo is moving closer to release with the announcement that it will stream exclusively on Paramount+.
Produced by Showtime alongside the game developer 343 Industries, the series is currently in production in Budapest after a lengthy postponement due to the global pandemic. The series has been given the release slot of Q1 2022 exclusively through the Paramount+ platform.
Halo is seen as being the game that changed it all and brought a completely different way of gaming, with it selling more than 81 million copies worldwide it is one of the biggest ever franchises in gaming. Halo starring Pablo Schreiber will take place in the Halo universe and tells the story of the epic battles between the human race and the legendary alien force known as “The Covenant”.
In a recent interview with online magazine Deadline Showtime Chief Creative Officer, CBS & Chairman and CEO David Nevin had this to say “It delivers the visceral excitement of playing the game, along with a much deeper emotional experience around the Spartans, human beings who got their humanity chemically and genetically altered,” “The story is about reclaiming what makes them human, and therefore it’s a very powerful story.”
Halo stars Schreiber as the legendary Xbox character Master Chief Spartan John-117; Natasha McElhone stars as Dr. Halsey, the creator of the Spartan super soldiers, and Jen Taylor stars as advanced human AI Cortana. Other stars signed up include Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy and Danny Sapani.
Halo the series is expected to launch on Paramount+ the early part of 2022.
