After releasing two motion posters that showed off Sub-Zero and Kano, we were suddenly hit with a wave of additional posters giving us a fantastic look at all of the iconic characters appearing in Warner Bros upcoming Mortal Kombat.

The first sideshow revealed Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Jax Briggs, Kung Lao and Mileena. Check them all out below.

The next wave of posters finally showed us Scorpion. As well as Cole Young, Kano, Liu Kang, Raiden and Shang Tsung.

Pretty cool, right? Considering that this is our first time seeing the characters up close, we’re actually very impressed. While they have changed certain visual elements, a lot of the core features have stayed the same. However, without seeing them in action it’s hard to say whether Mortal Kombat will give fans the experience they want.

Could this be the film that changes the tide in relation to video game adaptations? or will it just add to the rather long list? We’re hoping that it isn’t the latter.

If you are unfamiliar, give the official synopsis a read:

“Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of JaxA Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with.

Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary KanoBut will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

Don’t forget, a trailer is set to be released today at 9am PT (5pm GMT). We’ll be sure to let you know when it drops. Regardless of the history behind video game adaptations, we’re incredibly intrigued and quite excited to see how they handle Mortal Kombat. Can we expect to see similar grotesque finishers? We certainly hope so.

What do you think of the character posters and their new looks? Let us know in the comments.
