Back in November we learned that The CW was in development on a new Wonder Girl TV series. The series was set to feature the newest incarnation of the Wonder Girl character, Yara Flor.
At the time Yara had yet to debut in the pages of DC Comics. The character made her debut back in January in the pages of DC Future State: Wonder Woman. Neil reviewed that series saying it offered up a “fully-defined and ready to take on the DC Universe.”
The series pilot was written by Dailyn Rodriguez (Queen of the South) who has now confirmed via Twitter that The CW has chosen to pass on the series.
So some sad news. For all of those asking, Wonder Girl is not getting picked up at the CW. I was very proud of the script I wrote. Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me.

Whilst the series could still head in to development at another network, we’re looking at you HBO Max, it seems that, for now, Yara Flor isn’t headed to TV just yet. Despite this sad news there character is still getting her own solo-series which launches in May.
