The Wanting Mare is available from February 5th. If you’re looking for something different and unique, you can definitely add this to your list. You can also check out our full review for The Wanting Mare, here.
Last week, we had the amazing opportunity to talk to the director and star, Nicholas Ashe Bateman, about his upcoming film. We discussed how the project came about, how the world of Anmaere came to fruition, and what it was like to jump between being a director and the star.
It’s safe to say that the interview was an absolute highlight. One of the most fascinating things about the interview was having the chance to talk about how the world of Anmaere became a reality. We’re presented with this world with very limited knowledge, and by the end of the film we have even more questions.
Here’s what Nicholas had to say:
“The world building is not traditional, in the sense of like, if I started like a sci fi movie, if I started a fantasy world, you’d be like, well, these are, this is where the Lannisters are. And this is where these people live” Nicholas said.
“The idea from the beginning, was honestly to be like, what if you just don’t give anybody this stuff. And it wasn’t trying to be like, obscure, it’s in fact, trying to create something that is, you know, strangely a more living experience” He added.
If you want to learn more about this visual spectacle that took 5 years, we highly recommending watching the entire interview. You can check out the full interview down below.
The Wanting Mare stars Jordan Monaghan, Yasmin Keshtkar, Edmond Cofie, Nicholas Ashe Bateman, Josh Clark, and Christine Kellogg-Darrin. The film opens nationwide on February 5th 2021.
