Good news Kaiju lovers! The upcoming and highly anticipated Godzilla vs Kong will be getting a simultaneous release in theaters and on HBO Max earlier than anticipated. Rather than a May 21st release, fans will be able to enjoy the seeing the two titans clash on March 26th.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros and Legendary settled their own clash which saw the two conglomerates go head-to-head over Warner’s decision to take their entire 2021 slate straight to HBO Max. Previously, Warner had blocked a $200 million bid from Netflix who were looking to acquire the film.
But what does this mean for UK fans? HBO Max is a US exclusive. Of course, we can still enjoy it in the cinema. But given the current climate, the chances of that are gradually dwindling. Of course, much like Wonder Woman 1984, it should be available to rent at home. However, for Wonder Woman 1984, there was a delay in being able to rent it. HBO Max released Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day. Whereas fans in the UK had access to it only a few days ago. It is indeed possible that we could experience a similar sort of delay for Godzilla vs Kong.
For now, you can check out a short synopsis for Godzilla vs Kong:
Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages. As a squadron embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins and mankind’s survival, a conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
With the date being moved, this means that we will probably receive our first trailer soon. So make sure you keep your eyes peeled. Are you excited to watch the iconic titans battle it out? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
