It’s been a while since we had any news on planned Arrow spin-off Green Arrow and The Canaries. The series premiered its backdoor pilot as the penultimate episode of flagship series’ final season back in January 2020. But now it’s come to light that The CW has decided to pass on ordering the show to series.
Set in the year 2040, Green Arrow and The Canaries would focus on the titular trio as they continued their adventures in Star City following the loss of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover.
The series was set to star Arrow cast members Katherine McNamara as Mia Queen, the new Green Arrow. Alongside McNamara were Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy as Black Canaries Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake.
McNamara lamented the end of the potential series with a post on Twitter:
From Blackstar to Star City,

thank you for letting me be a part of your story…even for a little while…✵💚🏹What seemed a daunting hood to fill soon felt like family, and I have nothing but love and gratitude for everyone who was a part of bringing her to life. #GreenArrow pic.twitter.com/6y9WDz4mLQ
The CW has plenty of DC content coming our way this year with the return of The Flash, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. The new season will also mark the debut of latest series Superman & Lois plus the final seasons of both Black Lightning and Supergirl.
