Okay then here we go with spoilers.
The brief scene harkens back to a plot point from earlier in the film. The original Amazon warrior to wear the Golden Eagle armour. Around the half-way mark, Diana (Gal Gadot) shows Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) the legend of Asteria. Asteria was the Amazonian’s greatest warrior, when the Amazons clashed with the armies of mankind Asteria stayed behind to fight, giving the Amazons time to retreat to the newly created Themyscira. The Amazons gave up their armour and forged the golden suit for Asteria to wear.
In the film’s present day Diana has been able to source the armour but has never managed to catch up with Asteria herself. Until now. The twist? Asteria is played by none other than the original live-action Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter!
Diana meets Asteria as she is saving a civilian, the Themysciran warrior mentions that she’s “been doing this all this time.” Connecting with Diana as the two have been working in secret to keep mans world safe. The scene ends as Carter winks at the camera, a perfect nod to her own Wonder Woman TV series.
Gal Gadot returns in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman 1984. The film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. And Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins.
