Honestly, we have no memory of this. But somehow, a Clifford The Big Red Dog movie has been made and we knew nothing about it. However, after doing some digging, reaching into the deep crevices of our subconscious… We remembered something. Something that was purposely erased.
Here is what Clifford looked like on set.
Don’t panic. This is not our first look at the cuddly and lovable Clifford. This looks more like a Dark Souls boss. Anyway, this image is simply a model to help actors and the VFX team when it comes to digitally rendering the big red dog.
Last night, we got our very first teaser for Paramount Pictures‘ upcoming movie. Along with the brief trailer, we also got a nice synopsis:
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
All things consider, Clifford actually looks pretty great. There has been a lot of mocking online about it, some have labelled it as bad, others have called it terrifying. That’s definitely not the case. Clifford is a big red dog and that is exactly what we got. We think the CG work here is very very good, even for a short teaser. Of course, the real test will be seeing him in a live-action environment.
We will probably have to do some waiting before we get a full length trailer so keep your eyes peeled… then again Clifford isn’t exactly easy to miss.
What do you think of Clifford’s live-action debut? Let us know in the comments. Clifford The Big Red Dog will be coming to cinema in 2021.
