According to Deadline, actress Xochitl Gomez, whom has previously starred in The Baby-Sitters Club, has been cast to join the Doctor Strange sequel, titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong and Chiqetel Ejiofor reprising their roles from the first film.
Marvel Studios has given no comments regarding the films plot or who Gomez will play in the film, though plenty of fans have theorised that she may be playing America Chavez, a Latina character with multi-dimensional powers (which seems to match the theme that the film has going for it).
The film is currently in pre-production, due to start production in May 2021 with a release of 2022, and Sam Raimi is going to helm the role as director, replacing Scott Derrickson who left due to creative differences but will remain as an executive producer.
