Autobots, transform and roll out. The new Hasbro Studio Series has been a massive hit with Transformer fans. Without emptying your bank account, the Studio Series have been doing a fantastic job at bringing Michael Bay’s Transformers to life with more on-screen accuracy. Now, the classic designs from the original 1986 movie have joined the Studio Series line.
The Transformers: The Movie featured Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Frank Welker as Megatron and two massive Hollywood stars. Star Trek‘s Leonard Nimoy voiced Galvatron- he then went on to voice Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon. Orson Welles, acclaimed director behind Citizen Kane, voiced the movie’s giant villain, the transforming planet known as Unicron.
So which Autobots and Decepticons have joined the SS line?
First of all, we have Grimlock, Blurr, Kup, and Decepticon Scourge. Then we have Hot Rod, who comes with his very own Matrix of Leadership, and Jazz.
As a massive fan of the impressive Studio Series line, it is fantastic to see Hasbro revisit the original movie that is an absolute favourite among fans. Taking this announcement into consideration, it is very likely that we will receive more Studio Series figures from both the Bayverse and the original movie. With this in mind, which Transformers would you like to see join the line? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
If the line continues to expand it would be great to see Hasbro release boxsets. Each set includes a Studio Series of the same character but from different time periods- The Bayverse & the 1986 movie. Although, considering how some fans and audiences respond to the mention of Michael Bay’s movies, it may not be a good idea. What do you think?
