Ready Player Two is one its way and we finally have a better idea as to what we can expect from this sequel book. At the end of Ready Player One, Wade Watts takes ownership over the OASIS after completing all of the riddles left by James Halliday. The story felt pretty complete. Everyone got a reasonably happy ending, right? Well, it looks as though Ernest Cline has more to add.
Back in July, Cline announced that he had finished writing the sequel to Ready Player One. At that time, it was a complete mystery as to what the sequel would cover. However, thanks to a panel at New York Comic-Con we now have a synopsis detailing the sequel’s plot.

Ready Player Two arrives in November and we can’t wait. Obviously, the synopsis won’t reveal everything but we’re intrigued to see what direction the book goes in, especially when you consider that this synopsis sounds a lot like the first book. Another Easter Egg hunt, the OASIS in danger, Wade in danger, and another villain who wants the OASIS, it’s hard not to spot the similarities.
But, Cline has been working on this for quite sometime. Plans for a sequel were announced in 2015, and Cline started writing it in 2017. So, we are hoping that the sequel is full of pop-culture magic and twists and turns that will make the sequel worth the wait. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
