It’s been over well over a decade since X-Men: The Animated Series left our screens. After five seasons and 76 episodes the series drew to a close back in 1997.
But with a popularity amongst fans boarding on BTAS-like and the addition of Disney making the series available on Disney+, there has been plenty of calls for another season.
The series’ production team and cast are well known for discussing the series on social media and are convention stalwarts in North America. Delighting fans with tales of recording sessions and the trials and tribulations of creating a hit animated series in the 90s.
But could we ever seen new episodes of the classic show? It’s not necessarily off the cards according to producer Larry Houston.
“We’ve had talks, but that’s about it,” he admitted during an appearance at a Wizard World Virtual event. “We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future.” Despite being “semi-retired,” Houston says he would come back “if we could do a special, a one-off episode, or a five-part episode.”
“Whatever they wanted to do if we had all the original team,” he continued.
Whilst the decision may be left with Disney, we’ll leave with a reminder of the awesome theme tune to X-Men and we promise you’ll be humming it all day…
