Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is a fantastic book. If you’re a lover of pop culture, games, and sci-fi adventures then this book is for you. Rumors of a sequel began to circulate way back in 2015. After 5 years we finally have some incredibly exciting news.
The sequel, Ready Player Two, was announced online today with a first look at the front cover and a looming publication date. Ernest Cline will be stepping back into the Oasis this year on November 24th for a brand new adventure.

Ready Player One takes place in 2045 where overpopulation and poverty have consumed much of the world. To escape the harshness of the world people dive into the Oasis- a virtual world created by James Halliday. The story follows Wade Watts who dedicates himself to solving Anorak’s treasure hunt that was announced after Halliday’s death. The winner gets a $500 billion fortune, as well as complete control of the Oasis.
It is a wonderful read with a catalog of pop culture references ranging from Star Wars, Zork, and Monty Python. It is jam-packed with subtle references- some you’ll know and some you’ll have to Google.
As a fan of both the book and the movie that was released in 2018, we are incredibly excited to see what the Oasis will bring us next. Nothing has been said about the book’s plot but we’re hoping it reunites the original characters and gives us a fresh take on the Oasis.
