We’re in a time full of delays, cancellations and waiting. Particularly when it comes to films and shows. The delays just keep on coming and it’s time we had something to look forward to. Do you all remember Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes?
The Official Sherlock Holmes Facebook page has been incredibly quiet. This isn’t a surprise since the last installment staring Robert Downey Jr came out in 2011- 9 years ago. However, the slumbering page woke up today with an enigmatic message.
Using the final scene from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in which Sherlock reveals himself to be alive after seemingly falling to his death while fighting with the cunning Moriarty.
After a mystery parcel is delivered to Watson that hints to Sherlock’s survival, Watson leaves the room in a panic. Using a trick from earlier on, Sherlock reveals himself in an outfit that camouflaged him. The cheeky detective was sat right in front of Watson while he typed his memoirs surrounding his friend’s death. Leaving the film wide open, Sherlock approaches the typewriter and simply adds a “?” on the end of “The End”.
Fans will remember the scene. However, they made a slight change. The typewriter reads “September” instead. So the question is… what’s coming in September?

It seems as though we will be getting an announcement concerning Sherlock Holmes 3. The sequel has been in development since 2014 and in 2019 a release date was announced- December 22nd 2021- with Dexter Fletcher directing. Originally, the sequel had a December 2020 release date. Good thing it got moved, it probably would have been delayed.
Will we get a trailer or just a title? I guess we’ll have to wait until September. What do you make of this video? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
