The Lord of the Rings is entering the world of mobile gaming. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, partnering with NetEase Inc., announced the upcoming game on their Twitter.
The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War will take the players to the Third Age of Middle Earth which covers over 3000 years. Starting from the first defeat of Sauron, which sees Isildur take the One Ring for himself, to the destruction of the Eye of Sauron and the departure of Frodo and Gandalf to the Undying Lands.
The upcoming strategic war game will feature beloved characters and locations from Tolkien’s books. Just from the teaser poster, fans can feast their eyes on Minas Tirith. This incredible location played a very important role during the War of the Ring. Just outside the gates of Minas Tirith, the Battle of the Pelennor Fields raged.

As of yet, it is unknown whether familiar characters like Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf (if they are in the game) will bare any resemblance to their cinematic counterpart. Hopefully we will get some more images soon… as well as a release date.
I’ve been Lord of the Rings mad for many years now so I am excited to see what they produce. I don’t tend to game on my phone a lot but this game could change that completely. Especially if the game plans on bringing more of Tolkien’s lore to life. There is a lot of material to work with so it will definitely be interesting to see how they envision that.
What do you make of this announcement? are you exciting for more Middle Earth goodness? Let us know in the comments.
