Back in March we reported that Lucifer star Tom Ellis had signed on to continue in the role. At the time production was still underway on the series’ fifth season, originally set to be its final.
Early in 2020 news began to spread that Netflix was happy with the performance of the show and looking to extend its afterlife. After initially airing on FOX the series was cancelled, after a furious fan campaign Netflix picked up the Warner Bros. production for its fourth and upcoming fifth seasons.
News soon followed that co-showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson had signed new deal and that many of the supporting cast had done the same.
Following our March report on Ellis signing on it was reported that in fact he had not and that negotiations were on-going. Now Deadline is reporting that Ellis is, in fact, now signed on to continue in the role.
According to the report the as-yet-unannounced sixth season will instead form the series finale, extending its life by just one season. Though this is yet to confirmed the trade also understands it was Ellis who initially rejected WB’s offer to return.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia. The series comes from Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich.
