Some huge news coming from CBS All Access and Star Trek executive producer Alex Kurtzman. It has been confirmed that Anson Mount will be returning as Captain Pike in a brand new series titled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Mount will be joined by Rebecca Romjin as Number One and Ethan Peck as Mr. Spock. All three characters debuted in the second season of CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery.
“When we said we heard the fans’ outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it.” said Kurtzman in a statement. “These iconic characters have a deep history in ‘Star Trek’ canon, yet so much of their stories have yet to be told. With Akiva and Henry at the helm, the Enterprise, its crew and its fans are in for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the ‘Star Trek’ universe.”
A brief synopsis for the series has also been released by the studio, alongside a video featuring the returning cast members.
The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the decade before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.
The trio of characters were last seen in the Star Trek: Short Treks episode “Q&A.” At the time of writing we have no production window or release details for the series but keep your eyes peeled for more news as this story develops.
