Toy Story 4 director working on development for animated TRANSFORMERS prequel

News this morning via Deadline, Paramount Pictures is currently working on development of a new prequel film for the Transformers franchise. The difference? They’re looking at shifting the project in to the world of animation and have drafted in Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley.
The trade understands that the script was written by Ant-Man and the Wasp writers Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari with Cooley overseeing the final draft.
The prequel is said to focus on the war on Cybertron which saw the Autobots and Decepticons become mortal enemies. Vitally, this film is said to be separate to the two live-action Transformers projects which are also currently in development.
It’s believed the studio has fast-tracked the animated film due to the amount of production work which can be undertaken during lockdown conditions.
