Warner Bros. has announced that its upcoming animated Scooby Doo movie, SCOOB!, will now be skipping cinemas in North America and heading straight to premium VOD (video-on-demand) services.
The film is sticking with its original May 15 release date and will be available to rent for $19.99. If you prefer to purchase it, SCOOB! will be available for $24.99.
“While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theaters, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content,” Warner Bros. chairman-CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement.
“We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”
No word yet on how the film will be released in the rest of the world but we’ll keep you up-to-date. For now, check out the recently released final trailer for the film.
Directed by Tony Cervone, Scooby! is set to star Frank Welker as the titular hound, Zac Efron as Fred Jones, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, Will Forte as Shaggy Rogers and Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake.
Joining them will be Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Sykes, Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon, Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly, Pierce Gagnon as Young Fred, Ariana Greenblatt as Young Velma, McKenna Grace as Young Dapne and Ian Armitage as Young Shaggy.
