Warner Bros. has announced that it is moving the release dates for a number of upcoming DC Comics movies as Hollywood continues to grapple with the Coronavirus shutdown.
It comes as no surprise to us that Matt Reeves’ The Batman is the next victim of COVID-19 as it shifts release dates from June 25 to October 1, 2021. With the film having to shut down production mid-way this delay allows for a further few weeks before the team are able to get back to work.
Also moving release dates are Shazam 2 and The Flash. The sequel to Zachary Levi’s 2018 Shazam was originally dated for April 1, 2022, but will now instead release on November 4, 2022. The news was confirmed on social media by director David F. Sanberg.
In an odd twist of events, The Flash has now moved up by a month, moving from July 1, 2022 to June 3, 2022. We take this as a sign that the film is ready to begin production as soon as cameras are able to roll.
Written and directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is set to star Robert Pattinson in the title role, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton.
