Going in to the weekend a new rumour surfaced online suggesting that Netflix was looking to continue Lucifer for future seasons. Back last year the show runners and cast confirmed that the upcoming fifth season, the second to air as a Netflix exclusive, would be the series last.
We left the rumour to circulate for the weekend but it just isn’t going away!
According to TVLine, Netflix is in active discussions with the cast, writers and studio Warner Bros. to extend the series in to a sixth season. The previously announced fifth season was recently extended to 16-episodes which will air on the streaming giant in two, 8-epsiode blocks.
TVLine understands those final episodes are currently still in production, allowing the producers time to re-write scenes to allow the series to continue should a deal be struck.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia. The series comes from Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich.
