Tomorrow Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) finally hits cinemas across the globe. For the last couple of weeks we’ve been introducing you to the major playings in the latest DC Films release.
Today we’re taking a look at one of DC Comics most legendary female heroes, Black Canary. Get to know the song-bird, what makes her tick and find out some of the key story arcs and shows to watch to get to know this amazing character.

Huntress
Alias: Dinah Lance
First appearance: Flash Comics #86 (1947)
Bio: Dinah Lance was orphaned as a child and found herself living on the streets in Gotham City. She was eventually taken in by Desmond Lamar, a local dojo owner who began to train Dinah in martial arts.
When Desmond later passed away Dinah found that he had left her the dojo as a home to call her own. For a time she operated and took in those who had unfortunate stories like hers but sadly it was not to last. Locals gangs were extorting businesses to fund their own operations and Dinah was forced back on to the streets.
Eventually Dinah would join a metahuman crew who would help her to hone her Canary Cry. Using her voice to produce sonic blasts, Dinah can explode certain objects and deafen her attackers.
She is also highly agile, an adept martial artist and an accomplished musician.
In the comics, Dinah is well known for her affiliations to the Birds of Prey, Batgirl and of course, her (hopefully) one true love Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow.
