A couple of weeks ago rumours surfaced suggesting that Disney+ had delayed production on its Obi-Wan Kenobi series. At the time those rumours were vehemently denied by Disney.
Overnight those rumours have resurfaced and THR has jumped on the bandwagon, adding further information to the story.
It seems that the series’ producers, including Kathleen Kennedy, felt that the script was too close to The Mandalorian. We understood that the series was casting for a pair of young characters whom many expected to be a young Luke and Leia. It seems Disney has decided that watching the lead protect these younger characters was a step too far.
We now understand that the series is “indefinitely” on-hold whilst a new script is sought. Ewan McGregor and Deborah Chow are said to still be on board although there is some talk of the episode count being dropped from six to four.
