Given the $1.1b gross of Captain Marvel we didn’t think that it would be long before the studio announced a sequel. But San Diego Comic Con came and went, as did New York and still no official word on whether the studio was moving forwards with a second outing for Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers.
But now a new report from THR brings news of the film’s development. According to the trade, Captain Marvel 2 if officially a-go over at Marvel with WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell on board to pen the script.
In an interesting development it has been reported that Marvel Studios will not be moving forward with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck returning for the sequel. The pair are said to be being eyed for work on one of the Disney+ series, whilst Marvel searched for a solo-female director to take on the new film.
Captain Marvel 2 is currently being eyed for a 2022 release.
