The solo cinematic debut of The Flash has been development for what feels like a decade now. Following Ezra Miller’s debut in Batman v Superman and subsequent appearance in Justice League, the film has been through a number of changes on its way to the big screen.
An initial idea for the film pitched it as a huge Flashpoint event which could feature other members of the DC Film universe. The press has understood for some time that this idea had been scrapped for something more low key.
Now it seems Warner Bros. has come full circle as director Andy Muschetti has very briefly alluded to the film loosely adapting Flashpoint once again.
That Hashtag Show spoke with Muschietti following a cast panel for upcoming horror film Underwater, and he disclosed that The Scarlet Speedster’s solo adventure will present a “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting.”
Could Warner be looking to fold the updated version of the DC Films universe together into something more cohesive for the future?
The Flash is dated to hit cinemas on July 1, 2022.
