Agents of SHIELD star Ming-Na Wen first turned up on a cast list for The Mandalorian several months ago. But with details about her role kept tightly under wraps fans have been wondering how the actress would fit in to the story.
With just over a week to go until Disney+ launches in several major territories as new trailer has given us our first look a Wen as original character Fennec Shand.
According to a new interview with Vanity Fair, Shand is a lethal assassin who crosses paths with Pedro Pascal’s masked bounty hunter midway through the first season.
“We got our inspiration really from the name. The idea of a fennec fox came to mind,” Wen tells the trade. “She’s tricky, and yet she’s able to maneuver and survive, and be stealthy—so very graceful and agile. I just love that whole image with the name.”

The Mandalorian is the first of several planned Star Wars series set to premiere on Disney+ on November 12, 2019.
