Some interesting news is coming out of North America from our friends at ComicBookMovie. The site is reporting that the latest Star Wars release, The Rise of Skywalker is now outpacing a certain other Disney property, Avengers: Endgame is pre-release sales.
According to CBM, online ticket retailer Atom has stated Skywalker has set a new first-hour ticket-sale record. In doing so it didn’t just surpass Endgame, it outsold the Marvel masterpiece by a massive 45%.
Endgame grossed $2.79b at the worldwide box office and is currently the highest grossing movie of all time. Could The Rise of Skywalker break that record?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyI-Tbnptbk&feature=youtu.beThe film will see the return of Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), and Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix).
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) will also all return to reprise their iconic roles from previous films.
The late Carrie Fisher will appear via previously unreleased archive footage.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
