By now, you’re likely very familiar with “The Offer”—the gift of power and information that Lex Luthor has been giving specially chosen people throughout the DC Universe. Some of the recipients have been among the world’s most notorious villains. Others have been heroes questioning their role and method in the unending battle against evil. And then there’s Brainiac-1. The all-but-forgotten creation of Brainiac had been left to rust by his master…but what could he possibly have to offer Luthor and the Legion of Doom in the war to reshape the universe?
To answer that question, you’ll want to check out this week’s Supergirl #34, which kicks off a new storyline set against the backdrop of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev’s Event Leviathan. In May’s Superman: Leviathan Rising Special, we learned that Leviathan had attacked Kara’s adoptive parents, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers. Unfortunately, Kara was off-world and doesn’t know what happened. She just knows that they’re missing, and her search for them will put her on a collision course with Leviathan and…whatever it is that Brainiac-1 is becoming.
But just what is that, exactly? How will the original Brainiac react? And how does all of this benefit Lex Luthor? It may take a few issues for all the answers to arrive, but you can get your first hints in this look at the cover for issue #34!
