It’s been announced that Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford will be exiting the Arrow-verse during the fifth season of Legends of Tomorrow.
The married couple play Ray Palmer and Nora Darhk on the series. Routh has been with the show from the very beginning, having originated his character on Arrow. Whilst Ford joined the show in season 3 in a recurring role.
Deadline broke the news which was later confirmed by Routh on social media with the following statement.
“I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring the big-hearted and humorous Ray Palmer to life for our fans over the last 5 years, but unfortunately, his storyline is pointed in another direction. I’m saddened to see Ray’s journey end for now but wish my Legends family well.”
Courtney Ford said, “Nora Darhk is very close to my heart. If it were my choice, I’d play her for years to come. But I understand that stories run their course, and I’m grateful for the time I did have bringing Nora to life on Legends of Tomorrow.”
In a joint statement, executive producers Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree and Keto Shimizu expressed their gratitude to the pair for being part of the Legends family, “Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family. They have always brought a level passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”
At this time we understand the door will be left open for both cast members to return in the future.
Legends of Tomorrow stars Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Amy Pemberton, Jes Macallan, Matt Ryan, Nick Zano, and Dominic Purcell. The series airs Tuesday nights on the CW in North America and on Sky One in the UK.
