Last night San Diego Comic Con was not short on huge announcements. Joining the already impressive roster of Phase 4 movies from Marvel Studios is Shang-Chi and The Legends of The Ten Rings.
The long-rumoured movie is set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) and will star Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience; Taken) in the lead role.
Liu told the crowds of adoring fans that he only found out on Tuesday of last week that he had been cast in the role. Sure to be a little overwhelming to suddenly be presented in front of thousands of adoring fans.
Additionally, Kevin Feige confirmed Tony Leung (Internal Affairs) has joined the film as The Mandarin – not the fake Mandarin from Iron Man 3 – and he also confirmed rumours that Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
The film is scheduled for release on February 12, 2021.
