Third up on the stallion Ballroom 20 last night at San Diego Comic Con and under the banner of DCTV was Black Lightning. As the show heads in to its third season there was plenty for the cast and crew to discuss.
“It’s first a show about a family who’s navigating life,” Nafessa Williams explained. “It’s really a show about family first.”
“It’s like a family drama with superpowers sprinkled on top,” Cress Williams added.
“She takes care of us,” McClain said of Adams.
“I wouldn’t say full-fledged improv. I think we take the script and bring some of our experiences,” Cress Williams added.
“Jefferson and Doctor Jace are an item” in the comics, he brought up.
“I really hope so, but I’m going through a classic ghosting,” Nafessa Williams said of her character’s girlfriend Grace. “I would like to see that, especially for the fans… she’s got to come home! Baby, come home.”
“So here’s the thing: it’s not easy for a superhero to have a lot of friends, so my sister is my best friend,” she added. “We’ve got a lot of secrets in my family. I can’t trust a lot.”
As to her character Jennifer, McClain said, “She’s the most emotional character that I’ve ever played in my life… It was lowkey kind of like therapy.”
Of course the cast debuted the first trailer for the third season of the show and you can check it out in the player below!
