Today is global X-Men day and to celebrate 20th Century Fox has been releasing new content across their social media channels. Alongside a whole bunch of new artwork for the upcoming Dark Phoenix we also got a look at two new featurettes.
“The Legacy” looks back at the 20 year cinematic history of the franchise with interviews ranging from Hugh Jackman to Jennifer Lawrence. The second featurette “A Phoenix Will Rise” looks at the upcoming doom facing the titular team.

During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling our of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite – not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
Dark Phoenix is being directed by Simon Kinberg. James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender are confirmed to return to the roles of Charles Xavier, Mystique and Magneto respectively. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee will also return.
The film is due for release on June 7, 2019 in North America. In the UK the movie drops on June 5.
