AVENGERS: ENDGAME directors explain those Katherine Langford rumours

Many months ago news broke that Love Simon star Katherine Langford was to have a role in Avengers: Endgame. When the news was announced the actress had already filmed scenes but when the movie hit cinemas fans were left scratching their heads. Just who did Langford play in the movie?

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo recently appeared on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast and discussed what went on behind-the-scenes.

“There was an idea that we had that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes in when he snapped his fingers. And that there was going to be a future version of his daughter in that way station,” said Anthony.

Joe added, “The intention was that his future daughter, because these films are dealing with magic, his future daughter forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie.”

With the scenes failing to resonate with test audiences it was ultimately decided to remove Langford from the final cut. “What we realized about it was we didn’t feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. So it wasn’t ringing to us and resonating with us on an emotional level,” explained Anthony.

Could the scenes turn up on the home video release of the movie?

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

Avengers: Endgame is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett, Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.

The film is in cinemas worldwide now!
