AVENGERS: ENDGAME box office update

Avengers: Endgame (Marvel Studios)

We’re all recovering from a three day weekend here in the UK. But for the rest of the world its business as usual particularly at the box office.

Completing its second weekend worldwide Avengers: Endgame has crossed several more milestones as it continues to dominate.

The Marvel Studios release has now grossed over $2.1B. It crossed the $2B mark after only 11 days in release which, if we’re not mistaken, makes it the fastest movie to do do. By comparison James Cameron’s Avatar took 47 days to reach $2B.

According to BoxOfficeMojo the top territories for Endgame are: China where the film has now grossed over $575M followed by the UK ($89.9M), Korea ($82.1M), Mexico ($61.6M), Brazil ($56.3M), India ($51.8M), Germany ($47.4M), Australia ($46.2M), France ($43.1M), Japan ($34.4M), Indonesia ($30.9M), Italy ($29.0M), Philippines ($28.7M), Spain ($24.9M), Hong Kong ($23.1M), Taiwan ($22.5M) and Thailand ($22.5M).

For the weekend just gone Endgame grossed a further $282M internationally for a total of $1.56B. In the domestic market the weekend closed out with a further $145.8M which fell slightly short of the record second weekend of $149.2M held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It’s domestic total is now $620M with plenty of potential for it to leg it out to around $900M when all is said and done.

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

Avengers: Endgame is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett, Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.
