The weekend is over, the numbers are in and Disney’s Avengers: Endgame has opened to record breaking numbers. the Marvel Studios production had been expected to gross around $800M globally across the weekend. That number has swelled to an estimated $1.2B!
Let’s start with North America where the movie grossed an estimated $350M. That figure breaks the record for the biggest opening weekend of all time, breezing past 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War ($257.69M). As it stands that’s growth of $93M on the previous record and could grow to $100M when the final numbers come in.
According to Box Office Mojo the number has broken a number of domestic records over the weekend:

If you thought that was impressive you ain’t seen nothing yet! The international debut came in at $859M! That’s over $400M over the previous record which was set by The Fate of the Furious. the global bow of $1.2B is almost double that of Avengers: Infinity Way which bowed with $640M last year.

As part of its record breaking global debut, Endgame delivered the biggest opening day in China with $107.8M as well as the largest five-day opening weekend in the market ($330.5M). The movie already ranks as the fourth biggest non-local film ever in the market.
Additionally, the film delivered the largest industry openings in 44 markets, including Australia ($30.8M), Korea ($47.4M), Brazil ($26M), Mexico ($33.1M), France ($24.2M, non-local), Italy ($19M, non-local), Spain ($13.3M) and the UK ($53.8M).
The question now becomes how quickly will Endgame get to $2B and where will it end from there?
