Black Panther has done the impossible today and become the first comic book movie nominated for the Best Picture Oscar.
The movie made history when it was announced to content with the likes of Green Book, A Star Is Born and Blackkklansman in the Best Picture category. The Marvel Studios movie is also nominated in the Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Production Design categories.
Additionally Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse picked up a nomination for Best Animated Feature, along with Ralph Breaks The Internet, Incredibles 2, Miraiand Isle of Dogs.

Chadwick Boseman reprises his role as T’Challa/Black Panther and is joined in the film by Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Any Serkis and Forest Whitaker.
The Marvel Studios/Disney film landed in cinemas on February 12, 2018 in the UK and Feb 16 in the US.
