Overnight news has broken via Deadline about another new Star Trek project in the works at CBS. The studio is set to launch the second season of the popular Discovery franchise and is also working on a new series starring Patrick Stewart.
Now it seems the studio is also working on a spin-off to Discovery featuring the alt-universe doppelgänger of Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh). CBS is said to be in early stages of development with Yeoh said to be prepared to pull double-duty whilst appearing on Discovery.
“Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades,” Star Trek EP and expansion overlord Alex Kurtzman said in a statement today. “As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her,” he added. “Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we’re all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou.”
