Producer Alex Kurtzman is currently prepping for next weeks debut of Star Trek: Discovery season 2. But in the background he is also prepping for production on another Trek series: Picard.
The much hyped solo series for the Captain of the Enterprise D and E is coming together behind the scenes. With Patrick Stewart said to be heavily involved with the production fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation have high hopes for what is to come.
In a brief interview snipped Kurtzman has discussed where we find Picard when the series picks up.
“Picard’s life was radically altered by the dissolution of the Romulan Empire,” Kurtzman revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
He goes on to say Stewart only agreed to return if he could defy what people are used to seeing with Trek. “He threw down an amazing gauntlet and said, ‘If we do this, I want it to be so different, I want it to be both what people remember but also not what they’re expecting at all, otherwise why do it?’ “
When asked if other members of Picard’s old crew could appear for a cameo Kurtzman teased “Anything could happen,”
