This weekend see’s a huge triple-bill of movies fighting it out for Christmas box office glory. Warner Bros. Aquaman goes up against Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns and Paramount Pictures Bumblebee.
Nobody would have presumed that of those three movies Bumblebee would be the best reviewed. But as it stands the Transformers spin-off currently holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes based off 55 reviews. Its critics consensus reads:
Bumblebeeproves it’s possible to bring fun and a sense of wonder back to a bloated blockbuster franchise — and sets up its own slate of sequels in the bargain.
Paramount, looking to capitalise on the positive buzz, has released this new TV spot featuring some of the praise critics have for the movie. Check it out in the player below!
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
Directed by Travis Knight from a script by Christina Hodson, Bumblebee stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Pamela Adlon, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny. The film lands in cinemas December 21, 2018.
