The Walking Dead

On Sunday night in North America viewers saw Andrew Lincoln exit The Walking Dead. Rick Grimes had been expected to meet a grisly end, particularly following the predicament he was left in at the end of his penultimate episode.

To the surprise of many Rick survived the episode. Flying off into the sunset on that mysterious helicopter which has been floating around for a while.

Adding to that surprise AMC then announced that Lincoln will return to the role. Yes, the network has announced that Rick Grimes will return in a trio of original TV movies. Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple is writing the trilogy and the first movie is expected to go into production next year.

Lincoln is quoted as saying “I like the idea that we get to tell a bigger story, maybe with a sort of wider vista. And I’ve always been interested in what’s going on out there, you know, whether or not there is contact with the wider world. I want to know the meta of it all. And I suppose to be able to kind of touch upon that in a contained story for me is a very exciting proposition. Maybe it’s the start of a bigger story.”
