90s TV FLASH returns in new ELSEWORLDS set photos!
John Wesley Shipp has played an important role in the DCTV universe dating back to season 1 of The Flash. During one of Barry’s trips through the speed force we saw a brief clip of Shipp’s 90s TV Flash as an easter egg.
Now Shipp is returning to the role in the new Elseworlds crossover. Overnight Stephen Amell shared a new photo from the set showing Shipp back in his classic costume alongside Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin.
It’s not yet known how the classic TV Flash becomes involved in the story. Given the sheer number of versions of Flash we’ve seen in set photos perhaps the speed force is involved somehow!
No big deal. Just working with @JohnWesleyShipp for the first time. Nice of him to dress up for the occasion. pic.twitter.com/twRkwIhilv

Following Amell’s reveal executive producer Marc Guggenheim also shared an official image of Shipp in costume. The classic 1990’s The Flash series ran for one season in 1990/91. Though it didn’t survive for a second season it remains a cult classic amongst DC Comics fans.
After seven years, this just might be the coolest thing we’ve ever done…@JohnWesleyShipp pic.twitter.com/mmpac4k5YE
