Incredibly exciting news to come from this years Star Trek convention in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Sir Patrick Stewart dropped by the convention for a chat about his time playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation and its four subsequent movies.
Turns out that Stewart is not quite done with the franchise as yet. He confirmed rumours which have been circulating the web for some time about a return.
Confirming the news to a room full of screaming fans Stewart confirmed he has been coaxed back for a new series chronically the next-step in Picards life following the events of 2003’s Star Trek: Nemesis.
Stewart also released an official statement via his social media channels:

No news yet on when we might see the show. All we can confirm at this stage is Aex Kurtzman, James Duff, Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, and Kirsten Beyer will serve as the creative team behind the project.
